Caesium – Image Compressor

cesiumCaesium or cesium is a chemical element with symbol Cs and atomic number 55. It is a soft, silvery-gold alkali metal with a melting point of 28 °C, which makes it one of only five elemental metals that are liquid at or near room temperature.

There are many image compressors available and this is the first time using Caesium. Caesium is also a PC image compressor. If you are creating online content with images, then you need to consider your learners? If your pictures are not optimized, their loading time will be very long and you will loose interest of your learners. Caesium compress is a piece of software that will compress your images.

Caesium allows you to:

  • Compress an image up to 90%.
  • Allows batch processing — multiple files can be compressed at the same time.
  • Has instant preview — this allows you to see what you are getting before compressing the image.
  • Allows resizing of images — thus allowing even smaller image sizes.
  • Exporting into subfolders and adding file extensions.
  • Once you decide on your settings, it compresses the images very quickly.
  • Allows three output file formats: JPG, BMP and PNG.
  • Very easy to use — even for beginners.
  • It is free.

The only downside I can see right now is that it does not work on a MAC.

Here is a short video showing how to take a 9000 KB image and reduce it to about 25 KB use Caesium.
